Welcome to Navigating Through Prophecy

Welcome Preamble: This website is about defining what Prophecy really is in Scripture and what it is not. This website is a “BAR-NABA” teaching website. BAR-NABA [son of a prophet], which word means literally  “an EXHORTER/ENCOURAGER”. The Book of Acts has a companion of Sha’ul [Paul] named Yoseph of Cyprus, a Bar-Naba, who is incorrectly named “Barnabas” with a Greek sigma (s) attached to his title in the New Testament by antisemitic English translators beginning with the 1611 KJV, was an EXHORTER and we are of the same office and of the same ministry as he was. Exhortation is not necessarily always a pleasant experience or soothing in its content but it is truth meant to correct errors committed against the Scriptures and to encourage obedience to the written Torah word of YHWH God in its entirety.

Some “theory-logians” declare that about 1/3rd of the Bible is Prophecy, but in fact, the entire body of Scripture is Prophecy and is inspired by the Holy Spirit of Prophecy. We shall prove this is true in the 400 plus or so articles, essays and books included herein and by the Scripture itself. Scripture interprets scripture and when understood in its Hebrew Roots origin, it has no dichotomies or “difficult scriptures”. Prophecy is much more than predicting the future plan of YHWH God as He reveals it, or revealing the hidden truths [Sod] through Midrashing of the PaRDeS. It incorporates and encompasses more than dreams and visions given by the Almighty although it covers all of the above descriptives. A Prophetic voice is one that proclaims the Bible truth as it is revealed by the Holy Spirit [Ruach HaKodesh] and within the context of Scripture.

First Corinthians 14: 8. For if the Shofar gives out an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself for the battle?

“God gave the prophecies of the Old Testament, not to gratify men’s curiosities by enabling them to foreknow things, but that after they were fulfilled they might be interpreted by the event; and his own providence, not the interpreters, be then manifested thereby to the world. For the event of things predicted many ages before, will then be a convincing argument that the world is governed by providence.” Sir Isaac Newton [1642-1727]

 Scripture 101:  The foundation:

Until we understand the basics of the entire body of Holy Scripture, it is largely unproductive to read them and think we know what they say and are about.

For instance:  studying New Testament and believing that is the only part of Scripture that applies to us; that salvation is only of the New Testament OR studying Torah, the first five books of Moses and believing this is the only important part that is necessary for our understanding is self limiting. Either view is partial or consequently leaves us without full understanding and in only partial compliance to Yahweh’s will. Any serious student needs TWO WITNESSES or more to be Biblically literate.

Deuteronomy 19: 15, A single piece of evidence will not stand to establish anyone’s guilt or to bring punishment for any error that he commits; but upon the word of TWO WITNESSES, or upon the declaration of THREE WITNESSES, shall a matter be CONFIRMED.

“When one begins with a false premise based upon a biased preconceived worldview; then everything downstream of that premise will also be wrong. It matters not if that sideroad is learned from other theory-logians or cooked up by the individual him/her-self; it is still wrong.” Remember Einstein’s prophetic words, “The problems in the world today are so enormous they cannot be solved with the level of thinking that created them.” This includes religious thought, doctrines, dogma, draculated governments and the rabbinic traditions of men. Intentionally trapping oneself in a Hegelian Dichotomy bus sliding down a slope of Entropy with no brakes, guarantees mediocrity at best and the death of creativity at worst. As it is said, “You cannot enroll a duck into a school for eagles.” However, if your initial premise is correct and in accordance with the plan of the Torah and the Appointed Feasts and Times of Yahweh that YHWH God gave to Moses on the Holy Mountain, Horeb, and it is being fulfilled and executed by The Living Torah, Yeshua, our Messiah, then your premise will be executed in the greatest story ever told, and you will see your story and your fondest hopes play out.

This is “Bible 101! Grabbing one verse, and making it a numbered soundbite and building a false doctrine based upon ones worldview is heresy, plain and simple. One fact can always be skewed to mean many things. This applies also to doctrines. None of them may be based upon only one verse taken out of context. It must be stated at least TWICE in the Torah and/or THREE times in the Tanakh! If it is stated by some Christian teachers as being found only in the New Testament without any agreement from the Old Testament [Tanakh], it carries no weight. The New Testament comes from Roman Catholic theologians who had many centuries to mess with it before Protestants received it from their hands four centuries or so ago. It quotes the Tanakh extensively as its authority and therein lays its confidence and authenticity. Paul defended Torah always, without exception. Scripture verifies Scripture and we must never deviate from that base. Anything that does not agree with the Torah and the Prophets of old is not trustworthy [Yesha’yahu 8: 20]. Yeshua is and was “a Prophet like unto Moses”. They AGREED! If there are not two witnesses in the Torah, we need one from the Torah and two from the Prophets that all agree before we can interpret Scripture definitively. The place to begin:

Matthew5:17 (Yeshua speaking) Don’t think I have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets.  I come not to abolish but to complete! 18 Yes indeed!  I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud or a stroke will pass from the Torah – not until everything that must happen has happened. 19 so whosoever disobeys the least of these mitzvoth (rulings-instructions) and teaches others to do so will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven.  But whoever obeys them and so teaches will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Obviously, heaven and earth have not passed away, and not all of Biblical prophecy has been fulfilled, therefore Torah is still in force as the Almighty has stated clearly.

Yeshua/Jesus continues with several statements concerning the Commandments in His Fathers Torah and the ways in which the patriarchs believed and taught them, as legalistic rules but without a heart change through faith.  Instead of teaching these Commandments in this way, Yeshua raises the bar, so to speak, and makes obedience to Torah a matter of the change of heart and faith, and being enabled to keep the Commandments by the enabling of the Holy Spirit.  He amplifies the importance of following the Torah as it was intended to be kept by all of us believers as the loving instructions for life from His Father.

Romans 3:  Paul is teaching that it was the Jews who were entrusted with the preservation of the Torah and if some of them were unfaithful; this does not prove that God and His Torah was wrong.  It does not negate either God’s grace or His Torah instructions.  Paul emphasizes that salvation is through 1} God’s grace and 2} our faith.  There is no salvation in merely legalistically keeping rules.  He concludes this chapter by saying “Therefore, he will consider righteous the circumcised on the ground of trusting and uncircumcised through that same trusting.  V.31 Does it follow that we abolish Torah by this trusting?  Heaven forbid!  On the contrary, we confirm Torah.”

Paul reiterates, in his own words, exactly the same thing that Yeshua taught about Torah in Matthew 5:17-19.

First, we are saved by trusting in the shed blood of the Lamb, Yeshua; then we begin to understand the Scriptures, take an interest in what the Father requires of His children, and find the instructions in TORAH and begin learning how we are to keep His instructions, and thereby grow up into the fullness of Messiah, who always kept every one of the Father’s Commandments to perfection.  He intended that we understand that He did not come to set aside the rulings and commandments in YHWH God’s Torah and we cannot afford to do so.

The Road to Emmaus, a learning experience:

Luke 24:13-53; the experience of Yeshua’s followers on the road to Emmaus explains a lot about why most professed believers lack an understanding of Scripture.  It is not a simple thing to understand despite the fact that these men were Hebrews who had learned Torah from their youth.  In modern times, in a “Christian nation”, those who have grown up in the church have usually been taught Scripture from childhood, though almost exclusively the New Testament; and only occasionally adding parts of the Tanakh (Old Testament), considering it too difficult to understand and as not applicable to their personal or spiritual lives.

Approaching Scripture with a preconceived and biased belief system leads to “blindness in part” (Romans 11:25).  There is a partial blindness or stoniness of heart that happens when we refuse to remain open and teachable to all of Scripture, cover to cover.

In the gospels, (Matthew 20, Mark 14, Luke 22 and John 12), Yeshua is explaining to His followers; those who have lived with Him throughout His ministry, that He is about to die – to be offered as the final Paschal Lamb for eternal redemption to those that believe on Him, and they do not understand what He is saying.  They misunderstand the Kingdom of God, its timing and all the necessary preparations in place for it to happen.  How many times do we read Scriptures; the Almighty speaking, and fail to understand it until after the prophesied event occurs.  Even then, many fail to grasp the significance (as on the road to Emmaus).  Yeshua had spoken in detail about His death, burial and resurrection as an essential requirement for the salvation of man prior to the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth through His Blood.  All of the spring feasts of Yahweh shown in the Torah, which were rehearsals of His sacrifice, had taken on a life of their own; had become ritualized routine and had lost the original intent as Torah instruction and preparation of the true redemption to come.  This was the error of the children of Israel, adding Takanot and Ma’asim to the Word of God.  The church makes an equal error in not learning the meaning of the feasts of the Lord; not understanding the foundation and Hebrew roots of the faith or the basic instructions of the Tanakh; but they arbitrarily change Yahweh’s eternal instructions to fit a modern paganized, and man ruled, denominational worldview.

All believers need an Emmaus road experience.  This Emmaus road teaching by Yeshua is foundational to understanding all Scripture.  Notice, He began at the beginning (Luke 24:27); “Starting with Moses and all the prophets, He explained to them the things that can be found throughout the Tanakh concerning Himself.”

Why had they not understood all these things before?  The writings were available to them as they are for us today. We ALL read them.

John 12:34; “the crowd answered, ‘we have learned from the Torah that the Messiah remains forever.  How is it you say the Son of Man has to be ‘lifted up?”  This question indicated that they only understood part of the Scriptures concerning Him.

Mark 8:31-33; (again, Yeshua is teaching His disciples about His suffering and death on their behalf) V.32 “He spoke very plainly about it.  Kefa (Peter) …began rebuking Him.  Yeshua told Kefa ‘your thinking is from a human perspective, not from Yahweh’s perspective.”  This has been the problem with mankind from the beginning, a false perspective coming from a stony heart.

A recent series of articles in review of the film “Gospel of John”, written by Christians on a Christian web site revealed much about the current mind-set of believers.  The repeated critiques of the film stated that it lacked “artistic presentation”, had mediocre acting and direction and due to the length and inclusion of the word-for-word Scripture, it was tedious to sit through.  Contrast this with Nehemiah 8:1-3 where Ezra the prophet read the Torah to the congregation (standing) from early morning until noon and to all who were old enough to understand, and all the people listened to the Torah attentively.  (No visuals or moviemakers’ artistic liberties, just the Word of Yahweh God)

Today’s believers have fallen under a spirit of slumber such as Yeshua found in His followers just before His ordeal.  (Luke 22)  “He and His followers were in the garden and He warned them to watch and pray with Him, but while He agonized in prayer, they all fell asleep.”  Now, we are approaching the time of our own suffering (time of Jacob’s trouble) and again, most are slumbering, lulled to sleep by deceiving spirits; preferring ease and comfort, entertainment and earthly, fleshly indulgence.  Like the ten virgins, believers as well as unbelievers are all asleep.  Today’s church members are spending precious time viewing and reviewing not just Biblical movies, which they find for the most part to be boring, but, in addition, view smut-filled films to stir their deadened senses.  When the spirit is not fed the flesh takes over and demands “food” for itself.  That kind of carnal feeding can be readily obtained in the pagan world system.  Though we may be selected by Yahweh to be His “set-apart, sanctified ones”, there is a constant struggle against assimilation and homogenization into the culture around us.  We know what homogenized means to disperse throughout, to make uniform and to separate the cream from the water-filled portion.  The vast majority of today’s “Christians” unfortunately, give the appearance of uniformity with the rest of society.

We were instructed by Yeshua to watch and not be caught unaware of His return, but again unfortunately, if He returned suddenly these days, He would find most of the church asleep.
